Support for Victim Services : Trauma-Informed Wellbeing

Paws4Minds provides trauma-informed wellbeing support for organisations working with individuals affected by crime, abuse, trauma and distress across Hull, East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

Our structured sessions support emotional regulation, anxiety reduction and safe engagement through professional wellbeing practice and carefully integrated canine-assisted support.

We understand that individuals accessing victim services may feel overwhelmed, anxious or unsafe. Our approach prioritises calm, regulated environments where people can feel more able to engage with support.

Supporting Individuals Affected by Crime and Trauma

Organisations supporting victims of crime, domestic abuse or traumatic experiences often work with individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety and hypervigilance

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Difficulty trusting services

  • Stress linked to legal processes

  • Withdrawal or disengagement

Paws4Minds provides supportive, regulation-focused sessions designed to help individuals feel calmer, safer and more able to participate in support services.

Trauma-Informed Approach

Our work aligns with the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework, prioritising:

  • Emotional safety

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Relational trust

  • Confidence and resilience

This approach recognises that individuals recovering from trauma often benefit from calm, predictable and supportive environments.

Canine-Assisted Emotional Regulation

Calm canine presence can support individuals experiencing trauma by helping to:

  • Reduce anxiety and stress

  • Support emotional regulation

  • Provide a non-judgemental presence

  • Encourage gentle engagement

Interaction is always optional, consent-based and professionally managed.
